McKinney Making a Deal?

No wonder there are so many crooks in politics.

According to the AJC, (McKinney deal may be in works ) prosecutors are talking with Rep. Cynthia McKinney behind the scenes, attempting to work out a deal that would keep her from facing charges for assaulting a Capitol Hill Police Officer earlier this year. Apparently, the federal prosecutors in the case can't find the guts to file charges against McKinney and the grand jury doesn't seem anxious to hand down an indictment, either.

I don't know if this pisses me off more as a police officer or as an American citizen. To think that someone battered a police officer and didn't get arrested (after being released from the hospital, that is) amazes me. If our elected politicians won't obey the law, won't observe security restrictions that are in place for everyone's safety and cannot be held accountable for their actions, what hope is there for the future of this democracy? Where is the outrage among her peers? Why aren't they calling for her arrest and prosecution?

McKinney has already shown that she is willing and eager to play the "race card", so the prosecutors, grand jury, Capitol Hill Police Staff and her especially her peers in Congress bury their heads in the sand and wait for it to blow over. And remember, these are our elected officials! No wonder yesterday saw the lowest voter turnout in years.
