Another Democrat Skates

In a statement released late Friday, a grand jury refused to indict Rep. Cynthia McKinney for battering a Capitol Hill Police Officer earlier this year. U.S. Attorney Kenneth Wainstein also lacked the guts to go forward, saying, "We respect the decision of the grand jury in this difficult matter."

Difficult matter? A member of the house refuses to adhere to security procedures, attempts to circumvent a check point, and then batters an officer when he tries to stop her. In front of witnesses, no less. Then McKinney lied about the incident, insisting initially that there had been no contact. She then called the matter "racial profiling" and blamed the officer.

And I think these are the same Democrats that are going to reclaim the moral high ground over the corrupt Republicans, right? And what does the rest of the house do? Nothing. Not a peep. No attempt to defend or back up the cops that are risking their lives to protect the House and its visitors. No demands that she resign. Nada. Maybe they all were too busy hiding bribe money in their freezers or drunkenly crashing barricades in a mad dash to "get to the House to vote" at 3 a.m.

Unfortunately, this type of thing is so normal for our politicians now that no one even bats an eye when these things happen. There is no public outcry because it is so commonplace. And the other politicians won't object because they are so immersed in the same corrupt system.

It's all about making money and getting votes, people. Nothing else matters.
